Here we are at the beginning of a new year! Last year was a whirlwind and while we are not quite sure what this year is going to bring, we can most certainly try to do what we can.
I have been working with many parents that are either new to the ASD diagnosis or that are creating a new IEP or revising an old one. It is also THAT time of year. Thinking about a plan for the coming year and checking the progress of any plans that have been in place.
I know that as a parent and a general education teacher, I did not know very much (if anything) about the special education process and the forms that were associated with it. I didn’t know what my child or my students were entitled to and what were just “nice to haves’. I spent many hours, days and weeks learning all I could. It was overwhelming.
For those of you that may need it, I am kicking off a 4 part mini course that will review all of the special education processes and the associated forms. IN DETAIL!! This will help for you to know what is expected and to help you prepare.
The course will be a set of four podcasts (maybe there will be a few bonuses!!) covering the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP), Individualized Education Plan (IEP), 504 Plan, and the Transition Plan. So head on over to The Autism In Real Life Podcast and subscribe, if you haven’t already, so you don’t miss these special episodes.
Also, please let me know if you have any specific areas you would like me to cover so I can include them!
Looking forward to sharing with you!
Take care of yourself!
